Fun in West Virginia!

West Virginia is known for beautiful scenery, ample national parks, and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. These reasons alone are good enough to plan for a West Virginia vacation this summer, but what to do to fill the long summer days? Obviously, zip lines are a great option (flying through the air on a hot day is a truly cooling experience), but chances are, you may want to explore some other options while you are in town.

SO, we have compiled a list of some of our FAVORITE West Virginia activities and attractions. Read more to learn about what you can do on your next WV getaway!

White Water Rafting – We might be biased, but we think that if you aren’t in the air, you should be in the water. Looking for a locally owned and experienced rafting outfitter? Check out River Expeditions

Horseback Riding – What a fun and different way to experience local national parks and the beauty and nature of the area. We have a strong partnership with a local riding school, so do contact us so we can secure the BEST rates for your ride!

Shopping – Nearby towns such as Oak Hill are full of local artisans and shops. This means that no matter what you are looking for, you can be sure to find a cool memento to remember your West Virginia vacation with.

DiningĀ  & Wining- Who isn’t a foodie these days? Local restaurants and vineyards offer tours and local fare that provides a true “taste” of West Virginia. Options include pizza, craft beer, ribs, French cuisine, and much, much more.

Paintball – What better way to bring out your inner competitor? At Ridge’s Zipline, we also have an onsite (NEW!) paintball course – and guns and other equipment for rent too.

Camping – Let’s all go back to our roots and enjoy sleeping under the stars. Camping is one of our many onsite lodging options, and includes all the fun that goes with campfire games and other activities. Don’t forget the s’mores!

Golf – West Virginia is home to a number of beautifully manicured golf courses. One local course is the Greenbrier, which also holds a place in the PGA tour every summer.

ATV Tours – Looking for another adrenaline rush? Chances are that if you like zip lines, you probably would enjoy an ATV ride too! Contact us to learn more about local companies that we work with to provide this high-intensity tour of the West Virginia mountains with.

Theatre – If the fine arts are your thing – don’t worry! The local area is full of aspiring actors who want to share their trade with locals and travelers alike. For more information about local options, please go here.

Fishing – The New River Gorge is home to a variety of different fish. Be sure to get your West Virginia game license (don’t worry – it’s easy!) before embarking on any fishing adventures. Our local parks adhere to a “catch and release” policy to ensure fish for generations to come.

West Virginia is full of tons of fun adventures! The list above includes some of our favorites, but it is far from exhaustive.
