For safety reasons, guests should wear sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes; such as tennis shoes or hiking shoes. Sandals, flip-flops and other “open” shoes are not allowed. Depending on the season, we recommend shorts, capris, or long pants, and a shirt with sleeves. We also suggest that guests bring a light jacket, as weather can change quickly. *Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to your trip date will allow us to refund the full payment made to Ridge’s Zipline. For cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 15 days in advance, we will refund half of the payment. No refunds will be made when a reservation is cancelled less than 15 days prior to your trip date; nor can the trip be rescheduled less than 15 days prior to your trip date. All cancellations must be received by us in writing. No refunds and/or rain checks will be issued for no shows on the day of the trip.

A $20 cancellation fee will also be assessed for each cancelling guest.

What are the limitations for participation on a Ridge’s Zipline Tour?

  • You must weigh between 70-250 lbs
  • You must be 10 years old or older
  • You cannot be pregnant
  • You must have closed-toe shoes
  • You must be able to perform several tasks including hand-braking and self-rescue at Ground School before starting the course

What is the trip format?

You will start by signing a waiver at our check-in facility near the camp store. Our guides will then give a brief orientation and get the group harnessed up. From there, we walk 100 yards to the Ground School area where the guides will demonstrate the skills you need to have to zip the course. Each participant will complete these skills at Ground School before climbing the cargo net to begin the course.

On the course, you will run 4 ziplines, cross 1 sky-bridge, and at the end, you will then walk about 200 feet back to the check-in and your guides will get you out of your harnesses and helmets. There will always be 2 guides on a trip, 1 leading and 1 “sweeping”. They will be doing all the “clipping in” for you during the trip.

What can I do with my valuables and car keys while I am on the tour?

We recommend locking up your valuables in your vehicle and then leaving your car keys in the key bucket that we provide you at check-in.

Do I need reservations?

We do not always have trips going out, so we highly recommend that guests make reservations with our office at least 1 day prior to your trip.

How big or small can a tour be?

We can take trips as small as 2 guests and as large as 8 guests. If you have a group larger than 8, we will be happy to make arrangements to split in your group into multiple smaller flights that can travel consecutively to help ensure that the entire group feels included and connected.

Can I bring a camera or water bottle with me on the trip?

Yes. However, we cannot be responsible for items dropped or lost while ziplining, so we highly recommend a camera or water bottle with a strap so that it can be attached to the harness. We also suggest wearing something with a zipped pocket to store anything that you don’t want to lose. You can take a backpack or fanny pack, but there is no need to carry alot of extra items on a 1-2 hour trip.

Does weather effect a zipline trip?

Yes, it can. We do not run the course in the event of a thunderstorm with lightning. If you are on the course and a storm comes up, our guides will get you to the ground quickly and safely. The other weather concern that keeps us on the ground is high wind. The tour will go on in sunshine, rain, or snow – so bring a jacket if it’s rainy or snowy!

Does Ridge’s Zipline Course meet or exceed the current safety standards?

The Ridge’s course was built in the winter of 2013-2014 to the current Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) standard – which is the standard across the industry. The course is permitted and inspected by the West Virginia State Division of Labor at least once per year. Our guides are trained in accordance with ACCT standards with a minimum of 40 hours of training prior to becoming guides.
